That "B" stands for Belt ... it is part of the Twin-Power feature that Massey built into these tractors. When shifted into that spot (or in 4th road gear) there is a little device coupled into the shift rail support casting in front of the transmission (right side) that activates a long rod to the governor. The governor basic setting for N, 1, 2, and 3rd gears is bypassed and the governor allows the engine RPM to increase past the basic governor setting. This is for belt work (B) and it also activates when the tractor is shifted into 4th (road) gear for higher driving speeds. I'd bet the long rod between this device and the governor is probably missing.
