MF165 hydraulic help?

I recently bought a MF 165 with multipower and Allied loader. But it does a very odd thing and i'm wondering if its not plumbed incorrectly. It runs off the tractor hydraulics, lines run through the remote controller and then into the tractor beside the pto lever. When you put it up sometimes it will go down a little first before it goes up. But when it goes up it goes up very nicely. But when you put it down it comes down slow as molassas and the faster the tractor is running the slower it comes down, and if you turn it off it comes down faster than when its running. It seems to have good lifting power once it starts to go up. So I would presume the pump is working good, however the three point hitch can barely get my brush hog off the ground. It comes up a little but than it just hangs there. It comes up all the way without the brush hog? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds as if the lines are reversed for the loader. On the auxillary valve if you press the lever down it should have a gravity lower position right before going far enough to apply pressure to the cylinder to lower. Sounds like you are going through this position allowing loader to drop from gravity then raising instead of lowering due to lines hooked up to wrong ports on cylinders.

rz,unsure of your loader set up,e.g.if remotesare run off your linkage or multi power/auxilary pump, the latter is far better.your three point linkage problem sounds like a weak draft control spring located at the top ,rearof your lift cover, where your link from top linkage is attached to.is the trans oil correct viscosity?may not hurt to check your strainer on hyd pump, located on left hand side and accessed through hole afterremoving p.t.o.lever plate.m.power filter located left hand front just above fuel injection pump.good luck!

The lines come from the loader cylinders to the control levers that make the loader go up and down and then to the control that runs the remote for implements on back and from there they go into the tractor thru the bolt holes on the pto shift lever plate. Does that make sense?

rz,sounds like you have a restriction on your return line that dumps recirculated oilback to trans.oil is returning while engine is running, then when you lower the loader, you are trying to force more oil through the same circuit which may be too restricted.when you increase the engine revs, you are then increasing the output of the hydraulic pump which further increases the volume of oil trying to return to dump.do you have single acting rams on loader or double acting rams?to check, see if front of loader /bucket tries to lift front wheels off ground when in down position with engine running.wish i was closer to have a look but try that first and see.

It doesnt pick up the front of tractor, but I thought the rams were double acting because they have a hose at the back and on the front. Which i thought meant the fluid would flow in the other end to provide the down pressure, maybe thats not right? I bought the tractor at an auction, so I dont know anything about its history or what may have been done to make it "appear" like it should work, but the hoses on the rams appear brand new, is it possible they are the wrong size? I appreciate your help. Thanks again for your response.

rz,sounds like two way rams by two hoses to each ram you described.do you have two hoses on the p.t.o.lever plate or one?if one then you must have one coming from linkage pump(top of lift cover), r/h front to your loader control bank.this would mean oil to loader supplied by linkage pump, which is only ~ half capacity of m/p aux hyd pump?

Sibby, I have 2 hoses going into the pto lever plate. 1 comes directly from the loader the other comes from the loader but comes thru the control lever for the remote on the back, for some auxillary cylinder on whatever implement I might be pulling, a disk for example. Thanks again for your help on this.

rz,your loader must be connected to m/p aux pumps which are far better than hyd linkage pump.i would still think there is a restriction in the circuit be it a hose or fitting maybe.anybody nearby to you own anything similar to compareit with?
