MF40 Brake Overhaul

I'm planning to overhaul the brakes on my MF40 this spring, and get the diff lock working again while I am at it. Any tips, or things to look out for?

Anyone know the weight of the square axle housing with planetary?

I'm also thinking about rebuilding the Ferguson System pump, as the output is very low now. Any tips for that?

I have a 40B and have a couple of suggestions that may help. Have you changed the filter in the transmission? That solved part of my pump problem. Tightening a loose internal hydraulic line for the PTO and changing the fluid solved the rest of the problem. Mine has the wet brakes and they quieted down after getting the crud out that had built up in them over the years. The previous owner apparently did not believe in changing the fluids. The lubricant in the planetaries was low and thick as well.
