I have bought a 1952-53 ? Massey Ferguson 35.This tractor was used by the highway dept. for cutting grass,at least I think it was its painted yellow. Anyway This tractor is stuck in 3rd gear and the hydraulic lift quit working. I don't have this at my house yet so I really have not looked at it close, just could not pass on the deal. My Massey Ferguson 50 sometimes gets stuck in gear, and if I take the shifter out I can jiggle the gears around and get it unstuck, is this common with the 35 model also ? As far as the three point lift is concerned any easy things to look for ? This tractor has small front tires and wheels and huge low turf tires in great shape in the back, I will want to replace these with stock size wheels and tires, preferably trade. Let me know if interested. Thanks

Thanks for the info. The piece that the seat mounts onto is a heavy piece of cast metal with several bolts holding it on,it has several cracks in it and looks like it needs to be replaced rather than repaired, are these available used ?

the top cover has the fork for the hyd connected to it you would have to take off the side cover the one with PTO engagement lever and the dipstick holder cover and take the pins out of the fork on each side then you can unbolt the top cover I have the manuals if you need copies drop me an email at [email protected]

35s were first made in 1954.

Rich, my 1963 MF 35 gets stuck in gear too, usually when you shift too fast. I take the trans. oil filler cap off and put a tire iron or a flat bar down there and move the stuck gear until the gear shift moves. I have 5 60's model masseys and they all do it from time to time. As far as the 3 point hitch it hard to say from here but you could get a shop manual and trouble shoot the problem.

Big Dean's site, I think page two gives exact instructions on how to correct the problem. I have said several times that I am mechanically challenged and I can fix it in about 1-2 minutes. That includes removing the trans fluid fill plug. C. T.
