We have an MH 30. It ran fine when we parked it.
Now several months later it won't start. It won't even fire. We have tried everything we could think of. Changed sparkplugs, changed ignition parts, checked the timing, put in fresh fuel, serviced the carburator. No luck. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

you could try starting fluid, if it sputters with it, then you have a carb problem, otherwise it's propably an ignition problem..i'm not familiar with 30's ignition, but if it has a coil instead of a mag, have you checked that you have juice at the coil?

Try tapping the carb with a hammer. sometimes the needle valve will stick in it's seat when the tractor sits for a while. If it is getting fuel and spark to the plugs and the timing is right, it should start.

Remember. you need three things to run. Fuel, Spark, and compression. Ypu're missing one!

yes, but it ran fine before parking.. sounds unpropable to me that it would have lost all of the compression in a few months... unless someone has stolen the pistons or something like that

Yeah, yeah ... I know. Realistically - Check the spark first. Get someone to crank the engine while you stick a screwdriver in the plug wire and hold it near a grounded something. The spark should jump at least 1/4 inch. If there's spark, then it's gotta be carb problem. How old is the gas? This stuff they sell now has very poor shelf life.
