The seal in the water pump on my 35 Utility went, leaking coolant. I just installed a new water pump, refilled rad with coolant and warmed up. Coolant level never went down as expected when block/head purged air. 1/2 hour of pushing snow guage is in the red and we are blowing coolant out of the overflow. Removed thermostat to be sure of purge, no flow or bubbles noticed in top tank. What's up?

first off if you think that u still have air in there run it for a while, till it warms up good. than shut it off and let the presure off the rad cap. but keep it on and locked in. as it cools the air will purge its self our. oh yea, make sure you let the motor cool for like 15 minutes before backing the presure off.

When u have it running also check to see if the rad is warm all over or if it is cold in alot of places, mostly cold, or entirely cold. if it heats up fine than u mihgt want to check to see if the thermostat is opening up to where it is supose to be. also if u used a sealent and used the tractor to soon some of it might have come loose and hardend else where in the block/rad. i would check to see how the coolant flows threw the the rad by looking down the openingin the top of the rad with the tractor running.

I have tried a few strategies-leave it for a day, maybe it will magically fix itself. No! Replace thermostat, check hoses for blockage, crack open water pump until air is removed. No! Warm engine while feeling hoses for heat. Seems to have heat flow up through thermostat to top of rad, and heat flows from lower hose toward the bottom of the rad. Seems to simply not pump. Next strategy will be to drain system and check for blockage at the bottom rad exit? I know the water pump impeller was not slipping, looked identical to the removed one and pump is rotating. Am I simply overlooking something else?
Blair.
