model 81 battery cover help.

I am replacing the rotted metal on my battery cover on my 81 did the cover have a louver in it on thr face toward the operater.That is where mine was all rotted,or was that because of battery acid? thanks

There is a guy that advertises on the Unofficial Massey Harris web site named Kevin Youngquist that sells the covers for 75.00 bucks plus shipping.

Yes there was a louver or handle on the cover. Stiener has a reproduction of the cover but it kills 100 bucks.
