If you can't get it adjusted then you need to check the pedestal shaft and bushings. If they are worn you wont get anything to adjust corectly since everything is tied together to the steering cylinder. May have to rebush and have shaft work done to correct the problem. Then grease the you know what out of them when you get it fixed!

Raise the front tires and support them off the ground. Fire up your machine and test the steering. If it continues to be diffulcult to turn to the right, check for play at the pedestal shaft. Be ready to change out the bushing if there is any play (it doesn't take much wear in the bushing for the pedestal shaft to bind).
I've picked up two 175's in the past 3 years with the same problem and fix.

They're a bit of a pig to get right, any wear in the linkage and you won't get it right. In the past I've drilled out the control valve turnbuckle pin holes in situ and fitted M6 bolts, but these also wear in time. Best bet is probably to fit a turnbuckle kit.

According to my manual, the 165's had two different arrangements for the control valve. On my 165 I had to do an initial adjustment with a set screw before I adjusted a clevis on the linkage. If needed, I could scan the directions and send them to you.

Had the same problem with mine. Found there was not enough play to activate the slave cylinder to move the power steering cylinder. Adjusted it just a little and it steered like a dream. Also there are 2 pins that hold the turn buckle. They are small maybe a 1/4 inch. Big Dean told me if they had any wear they would not let the cylinder work right. He was correct. May need new ones.
