I plan to put a loader on my old 44. I need height, so I am seriously considering one of the later model F-10 Farmhand loaders, as they lift higher than most.

Has anyone used a 44 with this loader? Will the front end handle a loader? I have the adjustable wide front end.

I agree with both Marlowe and Fasting's comments and your selection of a loader. The F-10 (or F-11) are superior choices both for height and for the fact that they stress the front end of the tractor less than one that pivots further forward. I have a F-11A (unmounted) that I got when I bought my 44, and have looked into the design of this loader in some detail. I rebuilt a 44" WFE in the fall, incorporating the steering box reinforcements that Fasting spoke of, and adding reinforcement pads to my wedge holes on the axle tube. Both worked out very nicely.

Try go keep your front tread width narrower. If
not an issue with other row crop work, you don't
need the front tires centered to the rears. The
adjustable wide came in two widths, center tube can be 36" or 44". Lucky for you would be 44", as
more sleeved strength, when adjusted w/wedges,
in second hole from spindle shaft. Unless you have
new bearings in the steering box, on the ends of the box worm shaft, good idea to replace them. The
loader will stress any tractor. Assuming you have the MH Special WFE, you can stabilize the steering
box, by using longer 3/8" cap bolts to secure the
housing, through the support bolt bosses, which get tired. There are four 3/8x 3 1/4" bolts in the
box, remove one, look underneath for space. There
should be room to add a hex nut, washer, to this
arrangement. Try 4-grade 5-3 3/4"bolts, if not any
conflict w/lack of thread, tighten, add the lock
washer & hex nut beneath. Should you need added thread to tighten the bolt, grade 5 will allow you to cut more thread. Space is adequate on most
of these MH WFE's to accept this concept. Check you lower wedges for wear, these WFE's get rather
loose after five decades. Jim, if your Special came with Hitch-All, hydraulics are 1500 PSI, verses 1350 PSI on pre-Hitch-All models.Good luck.

i have a 444 with a freeman loader on and it is a good match one thing is make sure you use a loader that has the mounting frame that goes from the front to the rear axle and not one that mounts only to the tub. as to the front mine is a wide front with p.s. you should be on the carefull side because the front pivot point is a little weak and with out p.s. they steer a little hard use a lot of grease and keep bolts tight and they work just fine for every day chores. only real draw back is the hyd. pump on the engine is a little slow because it's not a real high GPM pump but they do work OK
