I am adding hydraulics to my 165 to run the loader off a front pump, and am routing the suction line through the pto plate. I know I could just drill 2 holes in that plate and return the oil there, but are there any other places that the oil can be returned, through a plug or something? I am going to start tinkering on it on Sunday, so any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Put the return throuh the drain plug, masseys said this would cut down the tendancy for the oil to froth up , for occasional use it is ok to return to the filler cap.

I know I'm not going to give you the answer you want but removing the PTO shifter and plate and drilling a return hole in the plate would keep your 165 the way Ferguson intended it. Your parts manual will show you the location for the holes. Make sure you put a filter in the return line and refill your trans-hyd fluid after the addition is purged.
