I am new to tractors and am looking at puchasing a Massey Ferguson 65. My main concern is that it runs on propane which I am not very familiar with. Are there problems with this type of tractor? The asking price is $2800 in lower Alabama and I am looking to use it on 12 acres for bush hogging and plowing. Thanks ... Ed

MF 65 was a pretty good tractor... Now, a word about propane and older gas engines....

(I had a small fleet of Propane fuelled pickups
and one-tons at one point in my carreer. )

The only concern I'd have is that in an older design engine, propane has no top cylinder lubrication capability (in the old days read LEAD) that was necessary to 'lubricate' the exhaust valves.

Our trucks would run gas or propane. We'd switch over to gas every so often to get top clyinder lubrication and not eat the exaust valves up.

It wouldn't take too long to run a compression check and see what you've got.
