But the tractor was not a 230 as oil filter did not fit for a 230 . Now dealer stated tractor is a M F 2135 industal do I need new books for a 2135 or is most of 2135 same as 230 . If you have used a 2135 let me know all about then as in problem or good or bad . Thank You Snowey

As far as I can remember the 2135 had a spedometer and dual brakes (seperate drums for parking and service brakes)a bit higher road speed and yellow paint, all the ones we got in the U.K. were Perkins A.D.3-152 engined, they also offered a 2130 based on the 130 tractor. Otherwise the same as the agric tractor, the instruction book for our (1966) 135 agric tractor also covers the 2135.

The 2135 is the Industrial version of the 135. They were also made in a model 20 (later version) Most everything is the same as a 135. The rear tires usually are 24" rather than 28". The front axle is non adjustable and usually built heavier. Most 2135s have a shuttle shift trans.

I'm familiar with the agricultural 230 MF but not an industrial 230. If your books are titled 'industrial 230', I don't know the answer to your question. If they simply say MF 230, I believe you will find them useful for all major components except, perhaps, a shuttle transmission. All the 2135's in the fleet I worked with had the six-speed (non-shuttle) transmission with two-stage clutch, and the adjustable front axle just like the 135. The only differences that I know of were the model number, the yellow paint and higher gearing for a faster road speed.

Snowey - I am not familiar with the 230. The Z134 Continental engine was used in lots of machines, welders, pumps and several different makes of tractors. They are as common as dirt. Be careful and do not let it get overheated. They will crack between the cylinders. The power steering cylinders are a bit pricey. Just replaced one at $215.

The 2135 is an industrial version of the 135. Good reputation, easy to get parts for new or used. If I had to name one weak point, it would be the steering, in my experience.

Hello all & Happy New Year.
I am currently rebuilding a MF 2135 Turf Tractor from the "ground up" I would appreciate any contacts from those who know this tractor and any tip and/or secrets for successful rebuilding of this unit. I was unfamiliar with this tractor until recently and know it is basically a HD 135 with P/S, Diff Lock, Foot Throttle, and Live PTO. It has the Continental Z134 gas engine and had a ton of hours on it when I got it. I heard that there was a weakness in the engine oil pump drive design and that the tractor had P/S problems, but as yet, they are unidentified to me. Hope some folks out there can help me.

Thanks in advance to those who respond.

Dick Krieger

I believe you will find lots of info quickly by doing a word search on this forum (examples: 'Continental oil pump' and '135 power steering').
