hey there

we have a loader plumbed into the valve under the seat on the MF188, it also supplys oil to the external hydraulics, when turned the other way

problem is the loader is too slow, we don't think it is using the whole flow

on the left side, under the pto lever is a place where there is two bolts, ports, we have a 285MF which is plumbed out of there for dual external remotes

questions is, is there any tricks to plugging the loader in on the left under the PTO lever, do i have to change anything?..... .i thought it was just a bolt on thing..... ..but grandfather doesn't think so, and it has been a long time since he has messed with one..... we have the length in the hose, its just a matter of changing it...

any thoughts

hey thanks for the responses big dean and richard

i am going to have another look..... ...i can't get a straight answer out of my grandfather who was not long in there fixing the reverse gear..... .i might look in there my self..... ..it leaks oil round the top of the gearbox under the seat there.....so we might be able to fix that problem too (he short cutted it!)

you have brought up good points i have not considered.....

it is a multipower, but it is a 72 model, the M1 backend

we once had a 72 188 and loader before i was born, my father cannot remeber how it was set up, but he did say all 188 that came into NZ was the multipower..... ..and his loader worked a lot faster then this one!

I doubt you have an auxiliary pump installed. If it does you would have to have the lines disconnected inside or it would have to have the ports on the pto shift access plate looped together with a line so the pump could circulated the oil. With bolts plugging the ports the pump would have to be blowing the relief valve anytime the engine is running and it don't take long to burn the pump up when it is run that way. Hope this helps some.

The two ports are for flow and return for the auxillary pump and is where a spool valve can be plumbed in to IF THE PUMP IS FITTED. As far as I can remember you had to have multi-power for the pump to be there, but because it may have multi power it dosnt always follow that you have the tandem pump set-up in there, the fittings may just be blanked off.Drain a couple of gallons out of the backend casing, remove the response control plate and look to see if you have a tandem piggy-back mounted pump.I dont think you could get the pump on 8 speed tractors untill Mk III hydraulics came out fully on the 500 series tractors but some very late 1*8 series tractors did get the Mk III hydraulics
