On my MF165 seems like everytime I hit a good bump the dip stick pops out of the hole and it pumps oil out of the hole. Is it normal for oil pressure to push it out like that?

I have hunted for this breather to no avail, however I think the fact that I forgot to mention was that this is a diesel. This might change things a little. and a big thanks and happy new year to all who have helped here.

I would be inclined to think that your breather tube is plugged as the earlier response suggested. My dip stick if fairly loose and has never bounced out nor do I ever see oil residue around the stick tube. I have a different oil problem with my 165. It is a diesel(203ad)perkins and the front pulley seal is out and a groove is worn into the pulley shaft. I have spoken with a friend(ex-Massey mechanic) who said it is best to have a machine shop make a sleeve rather than weld and turn down the pulley since the welding causes the bore of the pulley to shrink and then it won't fit the crank shaft. I visited with a local automotive parts house and gave them the deminsions of the pulley shaft (2.25in.dia.x7/8in.depth)and they ordered a speedy sleeve which they said would fit. It didn't, so my question is does anyone know of a good part # for a repair sleeve for the front pulley of a MF165 ? I would rather buy a factory made repair sleeve as the cost of the turning out a sleeve is making it the last resort. [email protected]

If memory serves that has the rubber groment that holds it in the tube is about 7/8th ". If it does you turn the T handle after you put it in which expands the rubber in the tube, holding it in. If you are turning it and it still comes out maybe the threads on the expander nut are bad. Properly put in, you can't pull one out. I can't find a picture of the 165 at the moment and you know how memory is. The 65 gasoline just used a slip in one but I think the 165 gas and diesel used the one that sealed better.

Sounds like your dipstick is worn, too. It is a friction fit and after enough years starts to slip out. I 'believe' you can spread the part that fits in the block and it will be more secure. Also, try putting your old one in rotated 90 degrees or more, but less than 180. There may be enough 'grip' to hold it in. A new dipstick might be the final solution.

it's not normal. propably your breather is glogged, and when combined with a bit worn rings it will push the pressure out throught the dipstic hole.

Look on top of the valve cover(round cap should pull off by hand) or follow the 1in tube that runs down the side of the moter it`s open on one end and goes to the valve cover on the other end.
