Help! Heard a ping then no power assist. Pump appears o.k. What could it be? Is there something simple that I'm missing?

"Ping" sounds like something broke. I'd guess it's internal probably the pin that connects the power assist gear rack to the hydraulic cylinder. It also could be the gear rack itself which tends to break out around the pin. There is a cover plate on top of the gear housing held in place with four flat head socket screws. You can remove this plate and look inside. If the pin or gear rack is broken, you should be able to see it.Let me know how you get along.

I am looking for a power steering unit for a MF 135. I need the complete unit pump and all as my tractor has manual steering. I don't want an add on kit.

I broke the piston rod of the power steering cyclinder on mine once. A good machine shop made a new one far more reasonably than the price for a complete assembly from MF. I think mine was caused by the left drag link clamp catching on the clutch shaft.
