I tried recently to remove my brake drum (FE35).I ran the bolts into the puller holes but it is rusted in place. I didn't try the bigger hammer routine. Bad brakes are better than no brakes. Would it be advisable to heat with a torch? Any suggestion? Thanks, Cosmo

Be aware that there are seals and bearings packed with grease on the half shaft, probably as well to budget on changing seals if you use heat (I always end up having to). Also remember that the drums are cast so don't hit them too hard like I did once....they crack!

Thanks Thomas, that's what I was concerned about. I didn't want to do more harm than good. I can slide my tires without standing on the pedals. Maybe I'll let a sleeping dog lie. :)

Had the same problem with my FE 35 and heat from a gas cutting torch did it in the end, I also used a large g clamp to give it pressure. You will know when it comes loose as it will go off with a bang.
I said I would remove mine once a year to stop it happening again but its two years since I restored mine and I still have not done it yet.

Thanks Bob, I was afraid I would do harm internally if I used my torch. I doubt if these have ever been off. I'll give it a go one day and see what happens. Thanks again, Cosmo
