kypete,

I recall that you have or had a MF255 tractor with a Bush Hog 2400 QT loader. Is this a good match? Please review my question re: Bush Hog 2400 QT loader about two or three posts below this one.
Thanks

Phil

I purchased the 2400 Loader new from a MF dealer several years ago and had them install it on my 255. Have never had any problems with it. Just be sure to leave a place to drive out forward when working in a steep downhill position. It won't back out.

If I can be of any help, let me know.

Thanks,

I missed three loaders last week even though they were nearly 300 miles away. Still the 236 came off a 255 and the 2400 was on a 275 which as I under stand uses the same bracket as the 255. Each week I learn a little more about this loader business. For example I now know the the 2400 QT was replaced by the 2425QT and that it is matched to my 255.
I haven't seen you on the board for about a month. I hope you haven't been sick.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, I had a bout with pneumonia. kinda hard on an old 73 year old geezer.

I bought the 2400 in 1986 and have used it for anything you can think of, from loading large round bales to digging a pond. Used it a couple of days ago to bring down some firewood from the barn and then cleaned snow from the drive.

I never take it off although it is an easy job with the stands provided.

If you get one and I can be of any help, let me know.

Good to hear that you're up and about some. May take a while before you get back to 100%.

My 255 is a row crop or high clearance. In all of your hay hauling etc., have you had any problems with the spindles or front end? I have replaced my kingpin once as the tractor did not come from the factory with a zerk or the zerk had broken off and I did not grease the king pin for years and it finally gave me some trouble. From what I see and read this 255 can make a good loader tractor. We have cows and will move hay, 5x5 bales, and typical chores that one will do with a loader.
Hope you continue to improve.

Never had any problem with the front end. Of course the weight of the loader plus a ton of hay or full bucket of dirt is kind of hard on the front tires. I've had to replace a few of those plus fix a few flats over the years, but using the bucket to raise the front end makes it easy to change.

I've had only two problems with my 255 over the years. Had to replace the clutch after doing too much spinning loading manure (my fault) and hadto replace the fuel lift pump twice and finally the front seal in the injector.
