We have a 1968 massey 1100 and it is a very nice tractor to drive, almost as good as our JD 2520. The 1100's downfall is the brakes---they are toooo touchy but very powerfull. They are okay if you can anticipate when you need them and have a second or two to engage them gently, otherwise they grab very hard and sometimes lock-up. Once they are engaged they are all right and can be modulated and are veryyyyy strong. We have learned to live with this for the last 18 years. A few people have told us this is the nature of the beast and to live with it. Anybody have any other thoughts?

Don't mash the brake pedal to the stop and start up the engine. Don't. Trust me, it will launch your foot over your shoulder, they put park in for a reason.

Don't stall the engine, no brake after the first application. Fun going up hill with a full load of chop in a forage wagon and caught in neutral. Happened to a neighbor on public highway.

Yep thats true. They are a bit 'keen' to say the least! On the other hand, you may never need to adjust them.
