Disabling the Multi-Power

Is anyone familiar with how to disable the Multi-Power transmission? My 175 came with a nut underneath the M-P lever on top of the transmission housing to keep it in M-P low range. The other levers leading to the instrument panel are gone. When the tractor is in M-P low, the transmission is allowed to free-clutch on slopes. I had heard that there was a way to add spacers in the transmission to let the engine limit the speed downhill. I don't believe that I need the speed that M-P high range allows and I don't look forward to changing the brakes often. Thanks in advance for everyone's input.

You're in low range now and need to put
the Multi-power in 'high' to get engine braking.

If you can remove the nut and get it into
high range, it will probably stay there. ??

If it's been in low for the last 10 years or
so things may be pretty 'sticky' inside the trans,
and hopefully nothing is broken in there.

BUT !! Once you do get it into high range, you'll find that the transmission is
VERY hard to shift when there is
any 'back pressure' on it from the wheels.

You may want to reactivate the full multi-power linkage or jury-rig a substitute if you can..
