Thinking on buying one. The IH Dealer said it was 32hp, I thought they were about 41hp?? Serial#is E27039. Dealer said it was a 96 model. Is this info correct? What should I look for, it seems to be in good shape as it only has 700 hrs on it. Can you put a outlit on it and is it a big deal to do so?? Got some other Red tractors but this would be my first Massey. It looks like it would be a good tractor for what I need it for. Hopefully I'm not making a mistake if I buy it. Thanks for any info you guys can give me.

Don't ever put any faith in what hours are shown on the meter. Mechanics usually turn them back before going on sale. It is as common a practice as pressure washing the dirt and grease off. Look colsely at the tires - how much wear? matching brands? wear on pedals? wear on deck?? play in steering components? wear in 3-point arms? wear in swinging drawbar? I see tractors at auctions all the time that show 200 to 300 hours and the back tires are worn half way out. My 1998 NH has over 1000 hours and tires look to be above 80 percent. My 1983 MF has 3900 hours on original tires look about 70 percent. When you go to sell a tractor, any mechanic can turn back the meter, but he can't "turn back the wear on the tires". Good luck.

I have one with about that many hours and it has not given me any problems. It is a good no frills tractor. You will need an auxilary hydraulic pump if you intend to put a loader on it and they are expensive. For general farm work, grading, and hay making it should serve you fine. Test drive it to see if you like it. The pedals are kick pedals which take some getting used to but after a few days on it they didn't bother me.
