The 231S appears to be a great little tractor. Here in n.e. Ohio, the dealer had about 5 of them and now has just one left with a loader. They seem to have good power from that Perkins FastRam engine. Rated at 42 h.p., they seem able to pull 3-16" plow, but I wouldn't try it in Ohio clay. Overall, a great chore tractor. Extra good for raking hay, pulling wagons, etc. Glad they decided to stick with the 8 speed. As far as aesthetics, not sure it has the 35 and 135 beat, but it is , in my opinion, the best looking new tractor available. Take care.

I bought a 231s about a year and a half ago. Very good tractor. I use a 6ft. cutter and 3x14 bottom plow with it as well as moving round hay bales and other implements. No problems with mine. I think you would enjoy the 231s. Hunter

I don't own one of these, but if I were going to buy a replacement for a MF35 or MF135, that would be my choice. They appear to me to be pretty much the same machine, with the 200 series sheet metal.

I latest version has pendelum pedels and additional hyduraulics as an option. It also has true hydrostatic power steering vs assist.

Nice machine and the price is right.

I should think that the Long Farmtrac 45 is the equivelent to an old Ford 3000, another great tractor, but one thing I belive is a sure thing and that is there will always be an MF dealer, not to sure about a Long dealer (at least in my neck of the woods) so I'd feel better about support and parts down the road with the MF.

Good luck,
Bill
