Guys,
I am normly on the farmall page. But a guy has offered to give me a MF-135. He said he thinks it is around a 64 or 65 and comes with a loader which seems way to big for this tractor. It is the same color as the tractor and looks like it came with it. The tires look about 70%. He says it has not run in a year and it has been covered with a tarp and the muffler runs under the tractor. He said the only problems he knows with it is the hyd dont work because the pump leaks or is shot. It is a front mounted hyd pump.

Was wondering what a tractor like this is worth and what should I look for when I get this tractor. Is the pump hard to rebuild or are they expensive to replace. Any suggestons would be great. I cant beleave he is giving this tractor away it is not a bad tractor. OH yea and what would the HP be on this tractor.

Thanks CHUCK

Chuck, recommend the folowing:
1. Get the tractor ASAP, without anymore talking and too many questions. He will change his mind if you bother him or delay. Tow it home quick. Then pay someone if you have to to get the loader for you and get it home - again before it is gone.
2. First step after you get it home is to get all the serial numbers, model numbers, etc written down. Get 3 real MF manuals: Operator Manual, Repair Manual, Parts Manual. Don't bother with off brand manuals. Yes, you need all 3 manuals.
3. Get familar with the manuals and your closest MF dealer.
4. start going over your "new" tractor closely. Advice on this would be endless. Best wait to get it home, get the manuals, then post back.
5. Good luck, and I repeat ACT FAST. Deals like this are gone in a flash.

Tom,
I did just what you said I went and got the tractor today and it is sitting in my garage as we speak. But the numbers on the dash for SN numbers are different than the ones listed in the SN section on this page. The number for the tractor says 9A-I7546I loader numbers are model 266 SN 116211. Trying to figure out how to get the loader home now. The pump is still on the loader. If some one will tell me how to post the pics here I will do that.

Chuck, good work!! According to the IT Used Tractor Price Guide 2002 Edition, the MF135 starting serial number for 1973 was 9A152025 and for 1974 it was 9A179544; therefore looks like you have a 1973 model. This will make a fine tractor.

The HP is around 35 by the Neb test, as far as the hyd. pump its probably a vickers vane and you can buy them new for around $300-$400. That tractor fixed up is worth around $2500-$6500, depending on how it runs looks etc. I wish some one would give me a tractor LOL Hope this helps

Chuck, the pump up front only works the loader. It has a pump mounted between the operators feet, (when sitting on tractor) that works the three point lift. You can remove the loader and pump, as the front end is not built strong enough to support it and the load anyway. A retired teacher recently got killed in NY after a front end collapsed under a loader. Take a look at how heavy an industrial tractor front is, compared to a 135MF farm tractor. However those are fantastic tractors, and very versatile.

You have got yourself a really nice tractor. Don't worry about taking the loader off. I know all kinds of farmers with loaders on these tractors including myself and they work great as long as you us your head and don't overload the loader.

Rick,
You being a owner of one with a loader. Are they hard to put on or take off. This tractor has the loader off but it goes with the tractor. Seeing how the pump for the loader is shot I am not sure I could put it on the tractor. I told the guy that once I got the tractor running and the pump fixed I would come back and get the loader. Also do you have to split the tractor to get to the pump for the three point pump. He said he thinks it leaks to.

Chuck, No, you do not have to split the tractor to repair the 3pth pump. This site has an excellent video tape available for a reasonable price. Look under "Market Place" at the top of this page, then videos. C. T.

Chuck, my mistake. I have the video and I thought it covered the 135's also. It Doesn't. Maybe they are similar, but I don't know. The video is for the 35, 50, 202, 204, massey-harris 50, ferguson 40 and to-35. C. T.

Chuck. My loader is really easy to take off and on. As long as you have it proped up with something that you can just drive the tractor into it and then I have 4 pins that you install. 2 for the cylinders and 2 for the loader frame. Usually can have it on in a few minutes. The main frame stays on the tractor all the time.I would'nt be without my loader.Really handy for all kinds of jobs around the farm.

Rick,
This loader is setting on the ground with the cyl's on it. The cyl's have no rust on them but this thing looks really heavy to try to pick up. Does it mount to the two flat plates on the belly of the tractor just in front of the back wheels? They stick out from the frame.

Hey Chuck..if the loader extends past the rear axles then you may have a MF industrial loader (yellow) (usually) Does the tractor have an adjustable front axle as a few of the 135's had a non-adjustable axle (orchard) this one would have power steering (two small cylinders at the front) and would have no trouble handling a front end loader. Actually a picture would do a world of good then we would all know what we were talking about!!! Regardless if this tractor is being "given" to you then you had better not look a gift horse...

Chuck, the leak he was talking about may be the front transmission seal leaking. The tractor has to be seperated for that job. The hyd pump is located under the lift housing, and the pto shaft goes through the center. alvinnms. By the way go to a tractor sale and look at the fronts. You can spot the ones that previously had loaders. I have a manual for a MF35 or 165.

Gary,
I only got a look at it in the dark and it was covered with a tarp but I did have a flash light. The front did look like it was ajustable. It had holes in the suports from the wheels to the frame. Would this mean it has power steering. Will post a picture as soon as I get it home. I want to get it right away because I am worryed he will talk to somebody and change his mind.

There is a suport laying next to the tractor that looks like a ROPS. It has a light on it and a tool box hooked to it. Is this what the loader would be attached to?

The tractor is not an Industrial it and the loader are red and look org.

Chuck..if it has factory powersteering it will have a separate hydraulic pump and small reservoir mounted on the engine. Factory ROPS bolted on top of the axle with loader frame under axle can use same bolts. Fenders may mount to ROPS.
Hope you get the tractor!
Gary

Chuck, the lift arms were most likely tied like that to keep them away from the treads of the tires. There may have been a drum full of concrete mounted on the rear, for a counter balance. Drain the trans. and diff. then insert your finger in the drain hole to inspect for metal shavings. No metal. The pump may still be ok. Milky, contaminated looking oil. Wash out good with diesel fuel. Looks like it will make a decent tractor. alvinnms
