First things first. What is the 44D's serial number? It is located on a plate on the LHS of the frame and stamped into the top of the transmission case, just behind the shift/PTO cover. Next, you need to find manuals (parts, operation, service) for the model you have, so you can determine what you need. Manuals are readily available from this website and e-bay. Basically, there are two versions of 44 tractors, standard & row crop. The standard (3rd digit in SN "S") has 30" rear wheels, a fixed-width wide front axle with 6.00 x 16 tires, flared (unusual) or crown (common) fenders, and is a fairly low-profile tractor. The Row Crop version (3rd digit in SN "R") has 38" rear wheels and either a tricycle (Narrow Front) or adjustable high-arch wide front end. There are also single front wheel, rice, cane, orchard & wheatland (hand clutch, among other things) versions, but these range from uncommon to very rare. The diesel engine of 260 C.I.D. is unique to MH44/MH 44 Special/MH 444 models. There are many variations throughout the 10-odd years it was built, including pumps & main bearings. There are many similarities & some interchanges with the MH 44 gas engine. It is an exceptional engine with good horsepower and great torque. Parts for these great old red tractors are hit & miss with the various suppliers. It will require persistance & determination to come up with what you need. Good Luck.
