Gday, I have just bought a MF 35 four cylinder Diesel. It is hard starting and has a popping like noise in the intake manifold. I think the injector timing may be retarded. Can any one please tell me the procedure to check the injector timing.
Thanks George R

Someone will have the correct procedure but I think you many need some special tools. As a first effort I'd suggest setting pump with securing bolts central in slots and seeing if that helps. You can also rotate pump slightly with tractor running to see what effect it has. Maybe its a leaky valve?

Thanks David, I removed the head and found a leaking inlet valve.
