someone got a heck of a buy!, 155hp V8. Sadly the reason for those big tractors selling so cheap is because farming is no longer profitable, and the only people who need a tractor that big are farmers. Most farmers are struggling to pay the bills each month here in Vermont. The land taxes are terribly high and land prices have skyrocketed. Farms are worth a whole lot more broken up into small little lots and sold for development.
It is awful sad, I watched a man get $1,900 for a 110hp Oliver the other day, there was nothing wrong with it and it has just recived a bunch of engine work 1 day prior to the sale, so it ran like new.

Right! Your observation is right on target. I have been watching mid-tn farms wher I live, being desecrated along with every asset including their family cemetaries for decades now. Strange how things happen, but some areas are looking desolate again after corporate down-sizing and the re-po man takes it's toll.
One of the areas oldest and most pristine named Rattle and Snap is going to be bid off this week.
Strange times.

Tom S. I assume you live near Columbia? I was raised in that area. Rattle and Snap has been sold several times in my life time. At one time, well before me, it was 6000 acres, and some of the finest black dirt I've seen. Last I heard, all but 175 acres had been sold. Lovely southern antibellum home. When I was a teenager, I stopped and asked permission to hunt there. I was "received" in the parlor. I was refused, but they were nice about it. Marble spiral stair case. It's truly one of the finest homes in the south.
