I just bought a MF 25 diesel and I would like information on when it was built,
how much horse power it has, and what impliments are available.
Why is everyone talking about MF 35s and no info on 25s?
What is the difference between a 25 and a 35?
Are front end loaders available? Can it handle a 48" brushhog and a 48" tiller?
Thanks for your help. Steve

Steve: The 25 was about the first M-F built in France to come to North America. It was a very popular size for European farms at the time and it was more of a grown up M-H Pony than a downsized 35. 35's came from the Ferguson lineage and the 25 was reengineered to 'look' like the rest of the family. Power was a 99 ci Perkins to start, then a 107 ci Perkins. Grew into the Mf 130. It was a good tractor but offered at a time in North America when farmers were trading their 35's for something with more power and never enjoyed the numbers of the 35's. Tom

Re: Loader on MF 50 in reply to Robert Blackwood, 03-07-2000 05:29:31
Make it easier on the power steering and your arms by putting on significantly wider front tires. Something like 11L-16 wagon tires on 8" wide rims. The wide tires drastically cut back on the front tires sinking into the ground with the weight of loader and load.

You might consider adding a separate hydraulic system for the loader driven off the crankshaft pulley. It can have a greater flow capability than the internal hydraulics and leave them for use on other implements while the loader is attached.

Tom... Merle is right. It is a G6 MM. The hood, grille and control panel was of M-F manufacture... At the 1998 Dayton, Iowa, Massey-Harris, Ferguson show there was two perfectly restored tractors, one a MM and the other a M-F sitting side by side.... What a beautiful sight.... The G6 tractor became the 1000 series and a Oliver version of it was built.
