Broken Z-134 Crank Pully?

Folks,

There's about a 3 inch piece of the crankshaft pully, the front flange, missing on my MF 202's engine, snapped off I guess. It looks like a pain to change, wondering how dangerous this is, over and above wear to fan belt? ('fraid I know the answer, sigh)...

Very simple, Run it and you will thow the engine off balnce and you will eat up the bearings and the crrank. you will not be able to keep a belt on that motor to say your sole and it is going to cost you so much money by not changeing that once you have found out that it is broke. Of corse if you dont know when it broke, it might be to late and the damage might have started. time to drop the oil pan, and inspect the bearings and cranckshaft. (unless you know when it happened and it just happened)

Steven,

Thanks for the post. Pretty much thought the same thing...don't know when it happened, but before I got the tractor. Noticed it when replacing the loader pump(engines in a MF-202.)
Good news is my oil pressure is good, engine runs smoothly, but dropping the pan is probably a good idea. Now to find the pulley, as its non standard due to the loader drive shaft connection.

If it is just the belt pulley, a missing chunk won't have enough weight or spin at enough rpm's to damage the crank or main bearings. However it could cut the belt and stop the water pump and heat things up real fast, WITHOUT WARNING!
