Just drained about 2 gallons of water and several more gallons of sludge out of the back of my 44 that I just bought.
Do I put 80w-90 gear oil back in it or something different?
Thanks

exactly what fasting was saying, flush it all out with gasoline or kerosne.. takes about 13-15 gallon of gear oil.. 75w-90w.. i got it free from where i work then my mh 44 started to leak alot once i topped out.. it was the seals where the brake drums are located at... so be ready once you filled it full, look for leaks espeically the seals behind the brake drums and housing axles.. thats all you gotta watch for leaks..

Your location may vary the choices. Since it looked foul, perhaps you should remove the tranny
cover, examine the gear set. Flush the case with
kerosene. Your seals may begin to leak, in a warm
climate, with anything lighter than #90. If a
colder area, and plans to run the 44 in Winter,
the 80/90 might be better. The shift boot must be cracked, to have the water enter. Close match will
be a 430 Case shift boot(the twelve dollar one), at a Case-IH dealer. 44RC:thirteen gallons to fill

Is that you MY? Our friend OTL must've gone south for the winter. Snow up here already and constantly below freezing .... great tractor weather. Missed out on a good 44 for eight hundred Canadian, excellent rubber, tin, ran like a top. Oh well, just what I needed, but the dreaded standard front.
