I understand that Chrysler supplied flathead 6 cylinder engine for Massey combines and possibly tractors until about 1972. Anyone have any idea which model tractors and combines used this engine?

All of the old sp combines with the engine underneath used chrysler flat head engines. The combines were made in three different sizes in later years and engine displacement varied with size of combines. Model numbers changed through the years as improvements and features were added. The small conbine started as 26, then super 26, model 60, and ended up as a 72. The other ended up as 82's and the largest were 92's. I think they ended the old style combines about 1963 with the introduction of the 300, it used a slant 6 chrysler engine, a 410 used a large chevrolet 6 and the 510 used a 327 V8. They started putting disel engines , mostley perkins but can't tell you much about them, I started using J-D combines when the 750's were introduced about 1975. M-H has sure lost out on the combine busines. They also offered a self propelled clipper which was different. When they went to the 3 , 410 and 510 series with the engine on top everything was completely redesigned and no more flat head engines were used. M-H used some Chrysler engines in the 101 and 101 super but then went to 6 cylinder Continental engines in 101 seniors. There were a few Hercules engines used in the 27 combines during the war years.
