Oil pressure after oil change

Changed oil and filter the other day, on my MF 150 diesel, outside temperature in the mid 70s. Used the same type of 30W oil, as recommend in my manual, and Massey screw on oil filter that I have for the past 11 years. Drove tractor for a couple of miles to warm up oil. Drained out old oil, since the filter goes straight up, I filled up the oil filter, as I have done, in previous oil changes, with new oil and added oil to it, 3 to 4 times, as it absorbed in the filter material. Added the rest of the 7 quarts to the engine. Started up tractor and looked at oil pressure gauge, waiting for the oil pump to start pushing oil through the engine. This usually takes maybe 10 seconds or so, but the needle did not moved on the gauge and after 40 seconds or so I shut her down. Tried again same results. I rapped on the gauge during these run sessions but still no movement. I unscrewed the oil filter and moved it down a few inches and then reinstalled it. Started her up and the oil pressure gauge moved quickly to its normal operating range that Im accustomed to. Could it have been some type of air block that caused this problem? Anyway, it may be something to remember, if this should occur to anyone on this board.
