MF35 Diesel Flooding

My 1966 MF35 Diesel has been running great for years but recently has started 'flooding' when under load. Over the past few hours of running time it has gotten worse to the point of not being able to pull itself uphill except in low gear and almost at idle. It will run smooth and clean at idle and a little higher RPM but when you accelerate it almost chokes out and belches forth volumes of thick black smoke. Cleaned fuel filter and primed but no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Rodney

Have you checked your air cleaner.

Big Dean is probably right, but mine did the same thing when the hose to the air breather collapsed. C. T.

Thanks for both suggestions. I think the airway is open but I'll check to be sure.
