I have a 1956 TO-35, been in the family for years.
Looking for probable cause for water being mixed in with the 90Wt. Tractor has been out doors the last 6 mo. Can't find my book, Also need to know the capacity of the trans. when I do refill.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance!

If you live in a humid climate, water will condense in the transmission case, when the temperatures drop. I kept my old JD 435D covered when I lived near Seattle and the I had to change the fluid yearly to get the water out. I ended up putting a small elbow and pipe plug on the drain so I could just drain the water out.

Hi guys -

There are 6 spots for water to get in:
2 boots around gearshift levers
missing gasket or chewed-up plug on oil filler hole
missing cover on air breather under the seat,
missing oil level dipstick, and most often overlooked,
rubber boot on the top link linkage. And this one is tough to replace.

Call me if you need help to replace it - takes too long to write!
