We are still struggeling with the battle of the tractor.
The seal in the Power steering was shot and the fluid was departing the pump as fast as we could pour it in. We removed the pump and sent it off to be rebuilt. It came back with a lot of sealent smeared in different places but it looked pretty much the same. We noticed that the teath on the helical gear were pretty badly scarred, deap and long. We are thinking maybe we should replace the pump. The one we have is a Barnes pump and the numbers on it are 184-856 M9 and GCMF14792. Have called the parts department at Yesterday's tractor but they say the numbers dont match up.
Our local dealers just want to sell new tractors so he is no help, I do not think he is even trying.
Do you think rebuilding this pump and reinstalling might damage the Crankshaft gear it is driven from?
Do you know anywhere that a pump might be available?
What is the deal with the numbers?
Not one number on this tractor seems to mean anything to the parts houses.
