The shaft from the engine to the pump is rounded off. The pump is good except for the shaft. Can the shaft be replaced or do I have to spend about $1,000 for a new pump.
I would also need the shaft from the engine. I hope I can find this from a dealer. Was thinking about taking it to a machine shop but don't know if I can get the shaft out of the pump.
Any idea or experiences with this type of problem?

At one time you could get the shaft to go in the pump if I remember right it came with the gear on it. I don't know if they are still available from the dealers today or not. If your pump has ever been replaced it may be a different pump than the one that came on the tractor.

Well if I can get the shaft out of the pump I can get it built up and machined if one is not available. Thanks for the info.
How hard is it to get the shaft out of the pump?
How about the connecting shaft from the engine, is that easy to remove?
I have a service manual ordered but won't receive it for a couple of weeks.

you have to take the pump apart to remove the shaft. the shaft and the gear are one and as far as getting shaft built up not real sure they can do it because it hardend steel and will get brittle from welding. the other end is eather a flang with 4 bolts or a left hand thread that will turn out

I am sure you are correct. That makes sense. Thanks for the help! Just have to hope I can get a shaft, May not be the orginal pump so will see. May have to just fork over the money for a new pump.

I had my pump shaft done in a machine shop and it worked just fine. Also had a new spline coupling for pump drive shaft installed at the same time. New parts woudn't work any better.
