I have a 44 deidel standard that has a quarter turn of play at the steering wheel. There is a lot of play in the wertical shaft in the gearbox. Is that mounted in tapered bearings or as I fear in bushings.I was hoping to be able to adjust , but if they are bushings then obviously they will have to be replaced. Mine also has what appears to be a preheat in the intake for cold weather starting, plus a primer in the dash to pump diesel to it. Ahead of the manifold is what looks like an ignition coil but it doesn't have a center tower for high a voltage wire like in a gas engine. is that the power for the preheat? (there is no wire connected to the preheat sparkplug) Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Ray

Scroll down a little bit to the thread called "Too much play in steering/12 volt conversion" for a good discussion of MH 44 steering woes. If you still have questions, post back.
