here it is, mh 44 4 cylinder, when started up, oil pressure reads at 22 psi, when its running for awhile about an hour, and you idle it down real slow... it reads around 2 psi.. i think the oil is really thinning out.. but when you revving up the engine at full throttle, it reads at 10-18 psi.. is that alright whatever its doing? i thought it would be around 10-20 psi no matter what engine rpm is...?

thanks sbone

Shannon The oil pumps usually have a spring loaded pressure regulator built in. When the factory made the pump they instaled sims / washers behind the spring to set "maximum" oil pressure. As the pump and engine bearings wear oil demand goes up and pump output go down. occasinally the spring will lose tension, causing low max oil pressure.
Thats the reason adding shims will sometimes help. In your case when you get more pressure by reving the motor, it tells me your pump can not deliver enough oil at low speed to even build to max pressure, again wear to pump and or bearings. Often a new pump can get you halfway back, probaby good enough. Or even sleazier is to take the pump apart and if the cover is badly worn from the gears "machine" the cover with sandpaper on a good flat plate til the grooves are gone. This may do if it's mainly a show and parade tractor. Hope this help some. Ray

This may sound like a dumb question, but when is the last time you changed your oil? If the oil has NO life left it will show very little pressure on your guage. The hotter the oil gets when you run it the less pressure you will get. Those reading seem low even when the engine is first started. If its been a while since a oil change go ahead and change it. If that doesn't work, you may want to do a pump re-build.

i just put fresh oil in it 10-30w.. its only been running an hour... only does it when its idling really slow around maybe 400 rpm... once the oil is hot enough , then theres very little oil pressure..

thanks again sbone
