Do the heavy cast wheels from a 44 widefront, use the same spindle and bearing as the small hub for the sheetmetal rims?
I have one widefront with the lightweight rims and want to switch to the cast centers.

Thanks

Should be good to go. I reserve caution on a full
YES answer, being 50 year old components. Used
parts from a donor repair, two decades ago, can derail what should fit. The 40K series 44's went
to the heavier cast pedestal, spindle upgrade.
'49 44 pressed steel, hub/bearings, matched fine.
30 parts dirty the water. Good luck.

Thanks for the comment. They appeared to exchange, but I hadn't tried it yet. While plowing some heavy alfalfa ground recently, I was having trouble keeping the front wheels on the ground on my 444. I hung some wheel weights on the side of the frame to solve it for the short term. But needed a better solution. I'll give the swap a try this weekend.

So, the adjustable wide front axle must be from a
333, or classic 44, since all Triple 4's came with
stock 6.50x16 fronts, on cast center wheels. Were
the WFE from a Special, it would have stock cast
center discs, also. The risks diminish. Good luck.

I remember reading that there is a difference in the pivot support appearance. The early WFE had a smooth appearance and the late model had a pronounced rib. Or vise-versa? I'll have to look at all the WFE's this weekend and check that.

We get into detail here, the rib on the later style. If a combo of parts, the '49-'55 tube has
the big hex nut on the spindle steering arms.
Keep them running. Good luck.
