That price is right in the ballpark for a starting price. Difficult to tell details of course from just that photo. The 277 LP motor was bulletproof and wore very little. SLightly higher compression and sparks just don't wear out or foul up! I have one several slow races with mine due to the fact that it doesn't load up at extreme low idle.

looking at it right now.
the paint is fiar to good, rears look like thre is alot of tire life left, fronts cant tell good, but look like old truck tires. it has the tubeulare high arch wide front which is a plus in my book. tin looks fair with a big dent in the grill. hydraulics apear to be set up, but it looks like the pump leaks/sprays maybe do to all the black grime under where the pump goes. it does not apear to have live pto. has the swinging drawbar. apears to have a good working treepoint, but from what i understand the three point on them is pure junk. i would not pay $2000 for that tractor, but i cant stand lp. if you are still interestead you will be better off asking the seller a few questions. like he says nothing abought the cojndition of the rear end and tranny, that might be out. you will want to ask abought noise that it might make in the high and low side of the transmition. they are a high wear item on the 444's. questions, the only way to get anwsers.

What was junk about a 444 three point hitch? What other brand had a hitch that was better? A plow hitch was even available on a 44 that could also be used for some 3pt hitch work. The "M" or the "88" didn't have any type of hitch like this

Any 444 with the option of factory 3 point hitch,
would have "Hitch-All". This is a durable Cat.II
hitch, not the modified cultivator lift on a 1950
44 RC, or early 33's. Sure, you can wear out parts
but this improved on the original Hitch-All, that
was on 44 Specials, by 1954. MH had perfected the top link, modified the draft adjustment. As said,
"what was better,vintage '55-'56, than Hitch-All?"
This was all the correct direction, but MHF was
so deadlocked in dispute, by 1956, they failed to
merge with the courting John Deere, everything decided by MF had no long term objectives. Basically, management took the profits home, until
bankruptcy. A very sad fact: From MH to failure.

the most common 3 point assembly that mounts on 33, 44, 333, and 444... they had lousy welding seam.. that was the only thing that breaks when under load... mostly it was the weld seams that gives out.. i have 2 mh 44s with 3 point hitch and i broke them when i was grading the driveway real hard and brush hogging .. so what i did was remove all old weld seams off 3 point hitch, mainly the lifing arm where hydraulic clyinder hooks onto it.. reweld abit more and better. ever since it hasnt break at all and it takes alot more abuse than ever.. it could pick up 1000 pounds 6 foot brush hog at ease but it made the front tippy...

Is this the 444LP w/Hitch-All, that was sold last
week, at a MN public auction? Since the seller says he just purchased from a neighbor, kind of takes him off the hook, for responsible service
work, accurate repairs. No live PTO clutch means
no double disc brakes. Can't check the input shaft for keyway wear, noise,Hi/Lo range noise,
tranny gear oil level(when viewing on e bay). The
front axle appears offset;possible worn wedge holes? After market seat. If you can inspect on
site for rear main seal leaks, etc, great. Too
many expensive repairs, bidding on photos, with
a $2K opening. Good luck to local bidders.
