Wanted to ask a question abou the different Hp's on these models. Since the 3-152 Perkins diesel appears in the MF-230, 235, 240, and the 245 and each have a different Hp ranging from 34-45 Hp. Can the Hp on the MF-230 be turned up from 35 to 40 or even 45 since this is the same engine?

The 3-152 engine has lots of variants. It first appeared as tghe straight 3-152 , a derivative of the 3/144. Then came the AD3 152 as in the MF 35x sold in the UK and Australia /NZ ( 2480)cc). Then the AG3/152 ( 2500cc) as in the MF 135 with direct injection. Same stroke and bore but different ( dished) pistons. All will have different fuel puimp settings. The fuel delivery setting is the key thing. Its a matter of altering the lenght of "stroke" of the little pistons that determine the amount of fuel injected from each cycle of the rotary pump. An alteration is a job for a pump specialist and costs about $150. You can normally get 5-10% more power this way but it has to be balanced by the amount of air available- so dont expect wonders from the average oil bath air cleaner .
