I just bought a tractor which is supposed to be a M-F 35 S/N 181211. When I check the S/n registry it appears all of these tractors are to have s/n's in the 200000 range. Do I have an oddball? The tractor has a grill like I have not seen before (oval at the bottom) and has turf tires and a 3 cyl diesel. Clearly the hood had an old decal that says model "35". It is a sweety, but I just want to know what I have. Thanks

The picture posted by Joe has a grill identical to mine. It has Massey Ferguson 35 on the sides of the hood. There is FE35 stamped on the left side of the transmission. It also has a Standard gas engine with 12 volt neg. ground. According to serial number it is a 1959. So is mine a conglomeration of parts? It doesn't seem to be. If so someone did a fine job.

Chuck, According to the serial number list on this site (on the left of this page under Research & Info), and tractortips.com, you have a 1958 Ferguson TO-35. C. T.

Thanks Hamish,Joe and C.T.
That picture is the one I have. So it looks like it is from the UK. The decal says it is a 35 with no TO in front of the number, but you must be correct. Thanks for your help.

Chuck, The plate that shows the serial number will tell you if it was made in England. Mine says "Manufactured in Coventry, England". Also, the models from England are positive ground, so if your "+" battery post is grounded on the engine and the "-" post goes to the starter, it is from England. If not, yours is a TO which stands for "tractor overseas", meaning manufactured in North America. C. T.

Never seen front splash guards like that. Custom made or were they available from manufacturer as an option?

Check the manufacturers plate, with that serial no it could be a 1960 U.K. built MF35 with Perkins 3 cylinder engine. Don't know about the oval grille though.

You defenitely have a 1960 MF 35 made in Coventry ( Banner Lane ) England . It has the superb Perkins 3/152 3 cylinder diesel. Serial numbers on tehse UK models go all the way up to about 384000 for the 1964 MF35X ( I have 3 of them ) These are superior little tractors in every way. You can even buy an after market power steering for them but a new set of tri ribs on the front a set at 40lb is just about as good. Great tractor, well regarded here in Oz
