I went and looked at a MF35 for sale today. Man said he did not know exact year but thinks it is a 1963. I dought that so any help is appreciated.
Serial number tag on dash says MF made in britain. # SNM188187; has a 3 cylinder diesel think it is a perkins. Man said he has to add one quart of oil every 12 hours of hard work. Looks like it is leaking all of it 75% of which coming from rear of motor. Left brake works great but you can stand on right break pedal and it barelly moves. Backing plate for right break is wet with dryed oil also. Tires look to be very solid with about 40% tread. Engine starts very very well from a cold start and after hot also. Runs very strong with very good power and trans shifts well with no noises. Has a 3 speed with high and low. Radiator seams to be cloged with dirt and grass but not enough to make engine over heat. Grill and front of hood looks to have painted over rust but other tin looks very well with spray can paint job. Hyd. work very well with no jumping and did not leak down any for the hour and half I was there. Hyd. work 100% of the time engine is running and PTO once engaged with lever will spin 100% of time no matter if clutch is in or not. The only way to get PTO to stop is to disengage lever. Do not know if PTO and hyd is suppose to work this way. Is asking $2750.00 Can anyone tell me any thing about this tractor. Year, does this motor have replacable cylinder sleeves, PTO clutch, anything as I know nothing about MF. This looks to be a great tractor to upgrade to from my "N" as I am not afraid of getting some thing that needs some work and looking for live PTO but do not want to be taken and find same condition tractor for less next month. What should I offer him or how high should I go. Sorry for the long post just trying to give all info so you can give me educated advise.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH JOHN

Engine is a Perkins 3.152 and it has dry liners. Its a good engine and parts are readily available (at least in UK). It is easy to start. It does sound like either the rear seal is totally knackered or the piston rings/bores are worn. Is it spitting oil when you pull out the dipstick? If so it needs a top end rebuild.

I think N in serial number indicates it is single stage clutch and threfore not live hydraulics/pto. Someone else will confirm. Mine is SDM and has the dual clutch. S = standard width M = diesel - I think.

Hi

I have a MF35-62 and it's a very nice little tractor. The engine is a 3-cyl Perkins 3A-152 with 39hp. Very strong and reliable.

It looks like it has a single clutch(when the clutch is disengaged it stops the pto and hydraulic pump). Some model's had a dual clutch.
I have exactly the same on my tractor an that's a thing you learn to live with.

You have to split the tractor to fix the oil leak on the engine and change the seals and brake pad's on the rear axle.
