MF-65, Problem Starter..

On a number of occasions when attempting to start my MF-65 the starter motor simply whirrs..and at other times can start with no problems. i have tried giving it a shake incase the starter and engine are not engaged. Any ideas would help greatly.

To 99% it is bendix problem.

Most likely it's the one way clutch in the drive. You'll have to replace the drive. Which you can do yourself if you're at all mechanical.

Mat,
Take off your starter and solenoid. Take both to a local starter rebuilding place. Explain the problem to them. They can fix you right up.

Had a 165 do that, after a lot of tinkering I ended up replacing the solenoid which solved it.
