16.9 radial tires
advance timing
turn up fuel
wire governor
cut cam for lug not rpm's
electronic ignition
I pull a 44 myself and do very well, place every time. Nothing is better than a sassey massey.

If you are pulling pretty much farm stock with un-cut tires etc. I would say raising the compression is your best bet. We have a 44 with 4 1/8 M&W's and this pretty much gives us the power we need to be competitive. Tires that have been wore down and roaded seem to work the best.
Some guys clean the heads and manifolds up to increase flow.

I'll check to see where my father located the M&W's and get back with you. I'm not sure about the LP or other types. I know the M&W's sure make a difference from a stock 44 or 444.

I used to successfully pull a 44 massey in 5000. The thing is, we were not allowed to use cut tires. We also had to run factory RPM's. How much horse power does it have? We also had to pull in 1st gear. Remove your hydraulic pump for mor power.
