Don't laugh folks. Just an ignorant CityBoy here, new to tractors, trying to do the right thing.

I have a four bladed fan blade on my recently acquired MF35 gas. The cupped side of the blade faces the radiator. This seems backwards to me. I asked the previous owner about this because I know he did some engine work on it a few years back and had the engine partially disassembled. He said he didn't remember which way the blades should face, and added that his son helped put things back together.

So does the cupped side face the radiator or the engine?

My MF/FE 35 Perkins diesel has the cupped side towards the engine. C. T.

I flipped the cupped side toward engine yesterday. The difference is air volume was quite astounding.

Cityboy Marlow is right. Reversing the fan doesn't change the airflow direction. When reversed, the poorly shaped backside is now pulling, and as you have found, very ineficient. It sounds like you just need to reverse the fan. Ray

Typically the cupped side should face the engine. You want to pull the air through the radiator, not push it.

it all depends if you want a pusher or puller most ind.eq.has pusher fans to blow dirt forward and away also cooler for driver some have fans you can turn. what way dose your fan blow pull or push? some of the last IHC. tractors had a pusher fan . turning the fan will not change air flow . but as the other post said cup to engine side most of the time but not all

It seems to be a puller because air is blowing back across the engine ... just not a lot.

Thanks. That's exactly what I'll do. Thought it looked backwards, and also thought it didn't move much air.
