Is there a newer HD277 that has a better flowing head or a better cam? Did a HD277 come in anything else? Thanks, David

david, Why not port the head that you have. Porting is smoothing, enlarging, and making corners more rounded. It's common in racing engines and hotroding. You'd be amazed at the improvement. Ray

You have a repowered 44D? As the only MH with a
HD277 was the Triple 4. This engine performed with
the head upgrade similar to the H277, but obvious
diesel differences. The MF replacement for the 444, was the 85, which used the HD277, then Perkins diesel, both briefly. Continental offered
277's as power plant units into the 60's, not much detail provided. Whatever your head/cam issues, are you sure this is the source of the
problem?

I don't have any problems with the set-up now, just looking for a little something extra. It does very well in the 4500# class, but when you put the weight to it it looses power fast. It's just the ports are so small and If I could find a way to get more air in it I can build more HP. Thanks, David
