I am new to this site and have been trying to find out what type of Massey I have. on the trans the number is 6333A, on the Engine there is a plate that has the # MFC 140G 30746, on the axel the number 76197 MI. Can you help me with trying to find out if I have a #30. I would likr to start working on her but I do not want to order the wrong part. It is getting cool down here in Nova Scotia and I want to be ready for winter. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated.

That engine number doesn't ID the tractor but it is a Continental 140 cubic inch so you've probably got a model 30. There is supposed to be a tin oval plate on the tractor's left side with the serial number but it's obviously not there. Those other numbers are casting (part) numbers and really don't help. The serial number is hand stamped into the machined upper surface of the transmission/differential housing. It is located between the cast iron transmission shift housing (with the gear numbers on it) and the flat steel plate that bolts down covering the differential area. It is on the left side towards the clutch pedal on that upper machined surface. It'll be filled with paint and old crud, etc. so you'll have to do a little wire brushing and scraping to find it but it will be there, usually bigger numbers but probably not too deeply stamped. Once you find it, post it here and we can ID it for you. Where abouts in Nova Scotia are you located? My mother's family is from the Lunenburg area and also Mahone Bay. When we were down there in '99 I visited my grandfather's farm and the fellow that bought it from him in the mid 60's has a lovely old Massey Pacer sitting in his machine shed. Love to have that little tractor but it's a long ways from here.

Thanks Mike! I 'll check on this when I get home. I live in Oxford, Cumberland County, not far from the NB boarder. I must have counted at least 5 or 6 Massey Pacers sitting around people's yards just rusting away. It really is a shame. Thanks for responding so fast to my enquire, I'll let you know what I find out.
