Tachometer Drive

The generator on my MF50 has the original equipment part number and the tach drive gear assembly but no gear on the generator shaft to make the whole thing turn. The end of the generator shaft is flat, no hole or way to attach a gear. Anyone know what this setup is or how to get the tach working? The tach works when I attach it to a drill.

Sounds like someone has but a generator on your tractor that doesn't have the threaded armature shaft or had the gen rebuilt and they didn't have the right armature shaft to fix yours with. You will have to find a gen or an armature to put in yours with that threaded shaft. Some shops that have been in business for quiet a while might be able to help. It will take some looking.
