where could i get side step repoduction or orginal for massey harris 44... its tricky to climb behind the mh...think it will be abit easier to climb on with those side steps on boths sides where the battery location is? also where could i find thermostat for mh 44 h260 engine.. asked napa store if they has something close enough to match it.. they said no... need 2 of them for my other 2... ran without theromstats and it runs too cold or too hot.

well, the step infront of the batt box is nothing more thant two steel barstock flats, bentto a 90 and a small peiece of plate steel. now it you mean the steps on the back of the tractor behind the seat. i think that they only came with some modles with the round style fenders. i am sure that fred wolfe has the theromsta, other wise youl local MF dealer will have one, or can order one. if you are runing to hot without a thermostat than installing a thermostat would make it hotter! you must have a pluged radiator or a colapsed hose or some other blockage inorder to over heat wittout a thermostat. with out one in you should be able to place your hand on most any place of the engine and not get burned. note the head and manifold will be hotter than the rest and will burn you, dont touch.

i was cutting the big feild, weeds were like 6 to 8 foot tall! outside temp was like around 98 degrees! so the radiator was very clean and no collapsed hoses im pretty sure, it was just working real hard with those big 6 ft brush hog..it takes time to get the temp reach the red mark around 210 i stopped and idle down and let it cool down then go back again cutting and doing that same thing again .. i think if you have the thermostat in it, it would work abit better because it would give radiator time to cool the antifreeze down quickly enough by the time the antifreeze gets hot enough in the block then it exchanges.. thats what i think its supposed to work better with thermostat and yes i could touch the block and it wouldnt be enough to burn your hands... but anyways winter is coming up soon! so gotta keep that ole baby warm! but thanks for the info.. im gonna try contact fred wolfe for some thermostat...

a few things. one you have a theromstat in the tractor allready other wise that temp gauge would never move. now i would check to see how your oil level is. hows the timeing set? if the timeing is off it will overheat. now if all that checks out, than the thermostat is sticking closed a litle. i would take off the rad cap and check while runing. the water will move at a very swift flow if it is working right.

everything just runs real good.. it didnt have thermostat in it while i was cutting the feild also i have those big tires on it that made it work hard i think... 18.4x38 and i was cutting like 7 inches above the ground in 1st gear.. it was pretty thick.. so i would say the tractor is in top shape... as soon you just press the start button it starts right up...

I just saw a set on ebay. Go to ebay.com then business & industrial, the farm, then parts & accessories. Type "massey" in search box & scroll down til you see a set of steps.
