Help with year make of massey

My grandfather passed away and left me his massey ferguson tractor.
The serial # on the plate to the left of the steering wheel reads
9A I5I656
The plate has patent #'s below the serial #'s
And the bottom of the plate says Made in USA
It has a perkins diesel # AD3 - 152

Did you mean year and model? That same plate should also tell the model number. Or, are there readable decals on the hood? The number there would be the model no. If you can't make it out, ask a friend or neighbor who knows MF tractors which model no. it is. I assume it was sold new in the U. S. If so, according to my book, a tractor having that serial number would have been built in 1972. The same serial numbering system was used for MF's with several different model numbers. The 3cyl. was installed in, at least, models 135, 150, 235 and 20 Industrial that year.
