I have a small Massey Harris tractor, on the left side there is a plate on the frame, it has been painted over. 425262 are the only thing that I can make out, these #s are stamped into the plate. Can any one tell me what it is how old it is from these #s. Tahnks for any help. Neil

I'd say it's probably a 1941 MH model 81 standard (wide front) tractor. That was the first year they were built, they stopped the 81 production in '46. Side rails are channel iron right? And a little 4 cylinder flathead Continental engine (124 cubic inches)? Nice little tractors, haven't seen too many of them myself. The Canadian Air Force used a lot of them up here in WWII as towing tractors at airstrips.

How can I find out the year of manufacture, or are you sure it's a 1941 model. Your right it has side rails of channel iron and a little 4. Any idea what it is worth? It's in not bad shape, needs a tune-up and new rubber. Thanks for the info. Neil

I'm sure about the year if the serial number listing I have is accurate. As for value, putting a value on an old tractor is a tough call, I mean I guess the old saying that it's worth whatever someone else would part with is probably accurate. Up here, an '81 like you describe would probably sell anywhere between $800 and $1500 Canadian dollars. They were pretty much the clone of the later 20/22 series which are more common up here (but the 81 had a smaller engine size).
